Vanguard Club 420
Twenty years ago Vanguard developed the Club 420 in response to the growing need for a more durable, high-performance, double-handed racing dinghy that could stand up to the rigors of club and collegiate programs. Ideal for crews ranging in size from 220-310 lbs., the Club 420 is manageable for sailors coming out of the Optimist class and enables young sailors to learn teamwork on a stable, forgiving that is built tough with reinforced fiberglass, high impact bumpers, and a simple, untapered rig. The Club 420 is simple and safe for beginning sailors and yet quick enough to keep collegiate All-Americans interested. These boats are used for intermediate youth lessons, race clinics, and are available during select Funsail events. Optimist Pram
Designed for sailors weighing 50-120 lbs., the Optimist Dinghy has become the world standard for introductory junior trainers. Optimist sailors learn the essential steering and sail-trimming skills necessary to continue in the sport of sailing. Its flat, stable hull provides an unintimidating introduction to sailing; and, as young sailors progress, they can graduate to the Optimist racing circuit. With a simple rig and a light, durable hull, Vanguard Optimists have become the #1 choice of junior sailors. A long-time favorite among East Coast sailing camps, the Optimist Pram is the perfect "first boat" for first time sailors. Easy to sail and very forgiving, during our lessons we have one child per boat, giving them more than ample opportunity to hone their skills. The Vanguard Optimist has been proven safe through years of tough use in instructional programs around the world. The flat, square hull and manageable rig are stable in all wind and sea conditions. Each boat carries three floatation bags, guaranteeing a buoyant, self-righting boat. The light-weight hulls are easily manipulated by instructors in a safety boat. The same Optimist Dinghy that introduces thousands of kids to sailing each year provides a world of sailing opportunities as sailors advance in racing skill. With over 150,000 Optimist Dinghies actively racing in 85 nations, the Optimist is one of the largest and fastest-growing classes in the world. Young sailors can race at the club, regional, national and world levels as their skills develop. LOA - 7'7" Beam - 3'7" Draft - 3'2" Sail Area - 33 square feet Weight - 77#
