Last night's Funsail was well attended with almost 2 dozen participants filling up the 3 Harbor 20's and a passel of friends and family aboard the Cape Fear 38, "Limited Inventory". After sailing, folks gathered at the new clubhouse/gazebo facility to enjoy the famous Eb & Flo's Steampots and some Carolina Blond.

Not only do we have a new clubhouse, gazebo, and dinghy dock but we are finally obtaining the ability to update the website. Some very preliminary photos and information is going up with more to follow in the near future. At some point you'll be able to log-on to the site to see boat and lesson availability as well as photos of recent events. Speaking of recent events, the Tuesday night Funsail was a huge success with over 2 dozen people enjoying sailing aboard the three Harbor 20s and member Kent Mitchell had a few friends and family aboard his boat, the Cape Fear 38, "Limited Inventory". I'm working to get her added to our "fleet" as well! After a wonderful evening of sailing, everyone gathered back at the clubhouse for some Eb & Flo's steampots and frosty malt beverages courtesy of Carolina Blond. Helming the Harbor 20s were Maddie Horine, Nate Richardson and Alex Mitchell with crew members who included Imre Gaal, the Goodin and Richardson families, Graham Mitchell and cousin David. Owner Kent Mitchell helmed the 38 with Ray Webb, Chris Lokey, Adrienne Dreiss and friend Philip and another four crew. All sailors enjoyed a relaxing sail out the Cape Fear River into the clear, warm waters of the Atlantic - much cleaner, clearer and warmer due to a large Gulf Stream eddie and the Wilmington drought which kept "dirty" creek water away. Instructor Conor navigated the BHIS "Opti Cart" through the annual parade with our very own Office Manager Catherine providing the waves and smiles. Last year BHI Sailing took 3rd in class with our innovative design - unfortunately our camera let us down so if anyone has a photo or two of this year's entry we'd love to be able to post one! Thanks so much to the BHIS Staff, Logan, Conor, Rob and Catherine and welcome to new annual members Anne Gardner, Tom Hahn, Claude McKernan and Will Kenworthy.
FUNSAIL July 10 RESCHEDULED :: posted on 7/10/2007 1:49:27 PM
Tuesday Evening's FUNSAIL has been rescheduled to Thursday, July 12, 5-7p. Please call Catherine at the office to sign-up and plan to come in after sailing, share a drink and a snack and then head to Eb & Flo's with the gang to grab some dinner at 7:30p.
